BlueScope Steel
BlueScope is Australia's largest steel manufacturer and the company behind both Colorbond and Zincalume.
Every Colorbond and Zincalume product we install is manufactured by BlueScope to the relevant Australian Standards, which is what the material warranties are written against.
Colorbond Steel
Colorbond has been a staple of Australian roofing since the 1960s. It is pre-painted steel with a finish engineered for the climate here, and it carries a manufacturer warranty on that finish.
Colorbond Classic is the standard product we use across most residential and commercial roofing and cladding, available in the full colour range. Colorbond Matt gives the same steel with a low-sheen finish, which suits contemporary designs.
The two decisions that matter are the profile and the colour. The profile changes how the roof reads from the ground, and the colour affects both the look of the building and how much heat the roof takes on.

Zincalume Steel
Zincalume is the uncoated aluminium and zinc alloy coated steel that sits under Colorbond. It costs less and is often specified where the roof is not visible, such as some industrial buildings and sheds.
It does not hold its appearance the way Colorbond does, which is why we generally recommend Colorbond anywhere the roof can be seen.
Architectural Metals
For cladding and feature work we install titanium zinc, copper, bronze, brass and aluminium alongside Colorbond steel.
These materials weather rather than staying as installed. Copper darkens and eventually develops a green patina, and zinc dulls to a soft grey. That change is usually why the material was chosen, but it is worth understanding before committing to it.

Roof Plumbing Components
Gutters, box gutters, downpipes, rainheads, sumps, fascias and flashings all come in the same Colorbond range as the roof, so the drainage can match the roof or deliberately contrast with it.
On a roof we are replacing, the drainage gets sized against the actual roof area rather than simply replaced like for like, because undersized guttering is one of the most common faults we find.
