Some properties carry heritage overlays or neighbourhood character controls, and where they apply they can affect what you are allowed to do to a roof. We do not guess at this. We check what applies to your specific address as part of quoting.
It depends on the size and complexity of the roof, and whether it is a tile conversion. Tile conversions run longer because the tiles have to come off and be carted away and the battens usually need replacing. We put a timeline in the written quote.

Roof Replacement and Re-Roofing
Replacing roofs is the work we do most of. Usually the roof has rusted through, or it leaks every winter no matter how many times it has been patched. We take the old roof off, check the frame and battens while they are exposed, and put a new Colorbond roof on with all new flashings.

Tile to Metal Conversions
Taking a tile roof off and putting metal on removes several tonnes from the roof frame. That is a structural change, so some houses need an engineer to look at it and a building permit before work starts. We organise that side of it, cart the tiles away, and install the new Colorbond roof.

Roof Repairs
Not every roof needs replacing. Damaged or corroded sheets, failed flashings at chimneys and wall junctions, and loose fixings can be dealt with in sections on a roof that is otherwise sound. The useful part of the visit is an honest answer on which situation you are in.
Gutters, Box Gutters and Downpipes
Gutters and downpipes are part of the roof, not an accessory to it. Rusted joins, box gutters without enough fall, and downpipes sized for a smaller roof than the one above them are what we find most often. We install, replace and repair the lot, but we do not clean gutters.

Metal Cladding
Metal cladding is the same material and the same lifespan as the roof, applied to a wall. It gets used most on extensions and second storeys, where matching the original brick or weatherboard is either impossible or expensive. Colorbond steel, zinc, copper and aluminium are all options.
