That is not how we do it. Covering an old roof hides whatever is wrong with the timber and the drainage underneath, and it makes any future repair harder. A strip and rebuild costs more up front and is worth considerably more at the end.

Once the covering is off, the frame is visible for the first time in decades. Battens that have softened where water has been sitting, a rafter that has taken movement, fixings that have rusted into the timber around them. Tile to Metal Conversions
A conversion takes longer than swapping metal for metal, and it is worth knowing that before you plan around it. The tiles have to come off and be carted away, the battens are almost always replaced, and the frame gets assessed properly while it is open. Where the change in load calls for an engineer or a permit, we organise it.

Roof Repairs
Valleys and the junction where a lower roof runs into a wall are the two places we find most often. Both collect water and debris, both rely on a flashing rather than a sheet to stay watertight, and both can be corroded through while the roof either side looks fine. Replacing a valley or a wall flashing is a contained job, and we do not repair or re-point tile roofs.
Gutters, Box Gutters and Downpipes
A gutter that has been sealed at the joints a few times is a gutter at the end of its life, and the sealant is usually hiding rust rather than stopping it. The bigger problem is often behind it, in fascia timber that has stayed wet for years. We replace gutters, fascia and downpipes properly, rebuild box gutters, and leave the cleaning to somebody else.

Metal Cladding
Cladding can go over an existing wall where the substrate is sound, which makes it a practical option on a tired facade or a wall of mixed materials. The battening behind it and the flashings at the edges are what determine whether the wall behind stays dry. We work in Colorbond steel and in architectural zinc, copper and aluminium.
