Roof Repairs
This is the work this page is really about. Chimney flashings that have lost their seal, aprons where a lower roof meets a wall, corroded valley sheets, skylight surrounds and vent penetrations are the recurring culprits on an older home. All of them are repairable without replacing the roof, provided the sheets around them are still sound. We report what we found, what we did and what we would keep an eye on.
Gutters, Box Gutters and Downpipes
The gutter line is a junction like any other, and the flashing behind the gutter is the piece most often missing or done poorly. Water backing up there runs behind the fascia instead of out the downpipe, which reads inside as a roof leak. We repair and replace gutters, box gutters, downpipes, rainheads and fascia, and detail the roof to gutter junction properly. Gutter cleaning itself is not on our list.

Metal Cladding
Where a wall and a roof meet awkwardly and keep letting water through, cladding the wall in metal can be a better answer than resealing it every few years. We install Colorbond steel cladding along with zinc, copper and aluminium, and we flash the junctions as part of the same job. It works equally well on an addition that needs to look deliberately different.
