Metal Roofing and Roof Plumbing Across Yarra Ranges

We are a metal roofing company based in Rowville, and the Shire of Yarra Ranges is part of the area we travel to. More than 30 years of combined roofing experience sits behind the team.

Across the shire we repair roofs that are leaking, strip and replace roofs that have reached the end of their life, convert tile roofs to Colorbond, and sheet new builds, extensions and sheds. Eaves gutters, box gutters, downpipes and the flashings that tie them together come under the same scope.

A house, a shopfront and a workshop all get the same team and the same detailing. Contact us to book a comprehensive roof assessment.

Why Choose Us

Why Yarra Ranges Owners Call Us

Metal roofing and roof plumbing is the entire business. We do not lay tiles and we do not take on general building, so the flashings, the laps and the drainage are where our attention goes.

The work runs from one house through to warehouses and industrial buildings, and the commercial side of it takes us Victoria wide. That range means whatever an old roof turns up once it is off is rarely new to us.

We are licensed, we carry our own insurance and we are members of Master Plumbers. Asbestos roof sheeting comes off under our own licence and is disposed of through the proper channels, and the Colorbond we install carries manufacturer backed warranties.

What Our Customers Say

  • Marika Cominos Google Review

I recently had a portion of my roof replaced by VIC Metal Roofing and the guys did a top notch quality job. When I was looking for a roofer, I met with quite a few businesses until I found one that I could feel would deliver with quality and care. When I met Alex who came and did the quote it was clear that his business would deliver. The integrity stood out a mile from other businesses. Not only did they deliver quality, they responded without question to remedy a few small things and were able to fit me in earlier than originally scheduled. Communication with Alex was great with quick responses from start to finish. I would definitely recommend these guys if you are considering a new roof.

First class-Alex and the team were friendly, professional, and did what they said they would do. Couldn't fault them on our re-roofing project at a community kindergarten.

Common Questions

Roofing in Yarra Ranges

  • Yes. We travel the shire for both residential and commercial work, from Chirnside Park, Lilydale and Mooroolbark through to Monbulk, Healesville, Warburton and Yarra Junction. If you are unsure about your address, send it through and we will confirm it.

  • No. Our yard is in Rowville and we travel out from there. We build the travel into how a job is programmed, so the roof is not left open waiting on us between visits.

  • The full range. New roof installation, roof replacement and re-roofing, tile to metal conversions, roof repairs, gutters, box gutters and downpipes, metal wall cladding, and commercial and industrial roofing. Metal is our specialty, so we do not repair, re-bed or re-point tiled roofs.

  • Yes, and a good share of our replacement work is exactly that. Lifting the tiles off takes several tonnes off the roof frame, which is a structural change, so some houses need engineering input and a building permit. We sort that out at the assessment rather than finding it halfway through.

  • Yes. Warehouses, factories, shops, schools and apartment buildings are a regular part of our week, and for commercial work we travel Victoria wide. Tell us what the building is and how it gets used, and we will plan the staging around that.

  • No. Our work is scheduled, so we are not the right call at two in the morning. If water is getting in, contact us and we will tell you the soonest we can have someone on the roof looking at it.

Roof Replacement and Re-Roofing

Most of the replacements we quote have been patched at least once already, and the patching has stopped buying much time. We take the old covering off, look at the frame and battens while they are exposed, and tell you what we have found before we do anything about it. The new roof goes on in Colorbond with new ridge, hip and valley flashings so the whole thing drains as one system. Where there are solar panels, they come off ahead of the sheets and go back on once the roof is down.

Tile to Metal Conversions

Converting a tile roof is the bigger version of a re-roof, because taking the tiles off changes what the frame is carrying. That can bring in an engineer and a building permit, and we work out which applies to your house before anything is ordered. The tiles and the old battens are carted away, new battens go on, and the new steel roof is built with new guttering. We do not repair, re-bed or re-point tiles, so a conversion is what we can offer on a tired tile roof.

Roof Repairs

Plenty of roofs that leak do not need replacing. The junctions are where it usually starts, so chimney and wall flashings, corroded valleys and the collars around flues and vents account for most of the leaks we are called to. Water also travels, which is why the wet patch on the ceiling is often nowhere near the hole. We go up and find the actual source rather than sealing the nearest likely spot.

Gutters, Box Gutters and Downpipes

Guttering is part of the roof rather than a trim on the end of it, and it is the part that does the most damage when it fails. Box gutters run inside the roof line and discharge into the building, so the falls, the sizing and the rainheads all have to be right and not merely watertight. Eaves gutters usually go at the joins and behind the fascia where nobody sees them. We install, replace and repair all of it, though gutter cleaning is not a service we run.

Metal Cladding

Cladding is the same material and the same working life as a roof, turned onto a wall. It earns its place on extensions, second storeys and gable ends, where matching the original brick or weatherboard is either impossible or expensive. We install Colorbond steel as well as zinc, copper and aluminium for jobs where the finish is doing more of the work. On a re-roof the cladding often goes up at the same time, using the access that is already there.

Commercial Roofing

Commercial and industrial roofs are a large part of what we do, and for that work we travel Victoria wide. Warehouses, factories, shops, schools, halls and apartment buildings all have roofs that cannot be opened up and left for a fortnight, so the scope is quoted in stages and the roof is closed at the end of each day. On older buildings the existing sheeting is sometimes asbestos cement, which we remove under our own licence. We deal with the owner, the owners corporation or the facilities manager directly.
