Metal Roofing and Roof Plumbing in Mount Evelyn

We are a metal roofing company based in Rowville, and Mount Evelyn is part of the Shire of Yarra Ranges that we cover. More than 30 years of combined roofing experience sits in the team.

The work includes repairs where a roof still has life, and replacement in Colorbond where it does not. Tile to metal conversions, new roofs on builds, extensions and sheds, and every part of the guttering sit alongside that.

Roofing and roof plumbing are the same trade in this business, which is why the drainage is designed around the roof rather than inherited from it. Contact us to book a comprehensive roof assessment.

Why Choose Us

The Experience Behind a Mount Evelyn Roof

More than 30 years of combined experience in metal roofing and roof plumbing sits behind every job, and it is the only trade this business works in. The roof is the whole job, not the last thing on a longer list.

We quote houses, units, sheds and commercial buildings, and the commercial and industrial side takes us Victoria wide. Working across that spread is why we can be realistic about a program instead of optimistic.

Our licensing and insurance are current, we are Master Plumbers members, and asbestos roof sheeting is removed and disposed of under a licence we hold. 25 reviews on Google average 5.0.

Common Questions

Roofing in Mount Evelyn

  • Yes. Mount Evelyn is in the Shire of Yarra Ranges, which we cover from our Rowville yard, for residential and commercial work both.

  • Not automatically, though guttering the same age as the roof is usually close to finished as well. We quote it as a separate line so you can see what it costs, and doing both while the access is already up avoids paying for that set up twice.

  • It depends on the roof area draining into them, not on what was there before. Verandahs, carports and extensions added over the years push more water into the same pipes, which is a common cause of overflow. We work it out against the actual catchment.

  • Yes. Warehouses, factories and industrial buildings are a significant part of our work and we travel Victoria wide for them. On large roofs the box gutters and rainheads often need as much attention as the sheeting, and we quote the lot together.

  • They come off before the sheets and go back on once the new roof is finished, with the mounting penetrations flashed into the new sheeting. We coordinate it so there is no waiting on another contractor with the roof open.

  • The whole shire, with Lilydale, Mooroolbark, Montrose, Silvan and Wandin North nearby, and we work through the bordering councils too.

Roof Replacement and Re-Roofing

A new roof is a set of connected details rather than a covering, and the connections are what we spend the time on. New ridge and hip cappings, new valleys, new wall and chimney flashings and a properly made transition into the gutters all go in together. Anything mounted on the roof, from solar to flues and aerials, comes off in order and is re-flashed into the new sheeting rather than refitted through the old holes. That is how a replacement ends up watertight instead of nearly watertight.

Tile to Metal Conversions

New guttering is usually part of a conversion rather than an upsell, because tile roofs and the gutters under them tend to be the same age and the new roof will change how water reaches them. The structural side comes first, since several tonnes is leaving the frame, and that can call for an engineer and a permit. Against the cost of repeatedly re-bedding and re-pointing a tile roof, converting once and being finished with it is the calculation most people are weighing. We quote both the roof and the drainage so the comparison is a real one.

Roof Repairs

Valleys and fixings cover most of what we repair. A valley collects water off two planes of roof and corrodes from the inside where the fall flattens, while the sheets either side can still be sound. Fixings fail differently, with the rubber washers under the screw heads perishing long before the steel does, which produces a roof that leaks in driving rain and looks perfect on a dry day. Both are proper repairs on a roof with life left in it.

Gutters, Box Gutters and Downpipes

Box gutters are sized, not just installed. The fall along the length, the width of the gutter, the rainhead at the end and the overflow provision all have to suit the roof area above, and a box gutter that was undersized to begin with will keep overflowing no matter how well it is sealed. Where the water goes after the downpipe matters too, since a stormwater line at capacity backs the whole system up. We replace and repair box gutters, eaves gutters, rainheads and downpipes.

Metal Cladding

The cheapest time to clad a wall is while a roof is being replaced, since the scaffold, the edge protection and the crew are already on site. That holds whether the cladding is a feature on an addition or a way of ending the repainting cycle on a wall that is hard to reach. Colorbond in a profile that relates to the roof is the usual answer. Zinc, copper and aluminium are installed where the material is meant to be part of the look.

Commercial Roofing

Industrial roofs bring their own list: purlins that have to be checked before anything is fixed to them, translucent sheets gone brittle with age, and box gutters discharging through the building rather than off it. We quote all of that in one scope so none of it turns up as a variation. Commercial and industrial work takes us Victoria wide, and the staging is planned so the site keeps running. The owner or the facilities manager deals with us directly from quote to completion.
