Metal Roofing in Yarra Junction

We are a metal roofing company based in Rowville, and Yarra Junction is one of the Shire of Yarra Ranges localities we travel out to. More than 30 years of combined roofing experience comes with the team.

The same range applies there as anywhere we work. Repairs, replacement and re-roofing in Colorbond, tile to metal conversions, roofing on new builds, extensions and sheds, metal cladding, and the gutters and downpipes.

What is above the ceiling only becomes accessible when a roof comes off, so that is the moment to deal with it. Contact us to book a comprehensive roof assessment.

Why Choose Us

Trusted With Yarra Junction Roofs

Metal roofing and roof plumbing is all this business does, with more than 30 years of combined experience in it. Because both are the same trade here, the flashings and the drainage sit inside the same scope as the sheets.

The work runs from one house through to warehouses and industrial buildings, and for commercial jobs we travel Victoria wide. A drive out this way is part of the normal week.

We are licensed and fully insured, we are Master Plumbers members, and old asbestos cement sheeting is removed and disposed of under our own licence. 25 Google reviews give the work 5.0.

What Our Customers Say

  • Marika Cominos Google Review

I recently had a portion of my roof replaced by VIC Metal Roofing and the guys did a top notch quality job. When I was looking for a roofer, I met with quite a few businesses until I found one that I could feel would deliver with quality and care. When I met Alex who came and did the quote it was clear that his business would deliver. The integrity stood out a mile from other businesses. Not only did they deliver quality, they responded without question to remedy a few small things and were able to fit me in earlier than originally scheduled. Communication with Alex was great with quick responses from start to finish. I would definitely recommend these guys if you are considering a new roof.

We recently had the roof and guttering of our older two story weatherboard home replaced by Ben and Alex from Vic Metal Roofing, due to water leaks. The entire project was completed to a very high standard, and the results exceeded our expectations. Ben and Alex provided quality workmanship and clear communication, explaining all the issues and solutions in detail from the initial quote through to completion. Based on our experience, we highly recommend Vic Metal Roofing.

Common Questions

Roofing in Yarra Junction

  • Yes. Yarra Junction is in the Shire of Yarra Ranges and we travel to it from Rowville. Send us the address and we will get a time in the diary.

  • That is the only practical time to do it, since the roof space is closed up again for decades afterwards. Where sarking has perished or was never fitted, we will raise it, show you and price it before doing anything.

  • If the corrosion is confined and the rest of the roof still has life, yes, and that is a sensible repair. Once the rust is general and the fixings have let go, replacing sheets one at a time stops being good value and we will say so.

  • By working out the path rather than the symptom. Water lands on a sheet, runs along a batten, crosses a rafter and drops wherever gravity takes it, sometimes metres from where it got in. We trace it back to the actual entry point before quoting a repair.

  • Yes. We hold our own asbestos removal licence, so cement sheet roofing comes off under controlled conditions, goes to compliant disposal, and the new steel roof goes on in the same job.

  • The whole shire, with Warburton, Millgrove, Launching Place and Woori Yallock close by, plus the councils bordering the shire.

Roof Replacement and Re-Roofing

A replacement is the one chance to put right everything above the ceiling, because it is sealed up again for decades once the new sheets are down. Perished sarking, previous patch repairs, tired battens and timber that has taken water all become visible and all get photographed and priced before anything is done about them. The reason the roof is being replaced is usually simpler: the laps have opened and the fixings have let go, and no repair fixes that. New Colorbond then goes on with new flashings throughout.

Tile to Metal Conversions

The battens are the part of a conversion people do not picture. Tile battens are sized and spaced for tiles and are no use under steel sheeting, so they leave with the tiles and new battens are fixed to suit the profile going on, with the fixings into the rafters checked as that happens. The tiles themselves are a job on their own, loaded and carted away rather than stacked to deal with later. The weight leaving the frame is the structural change, and engineering input or a permit is settled first.

Roof Repairs

Corrosion arrives unevenly, concentrating where water sits longest, so the ends of sheets, the laps and the valleys give out while the steel higher up still has years in it. Replacing the affected sheets and the flashings around them is a proper repair on a roof in that condition. The other half of a repair visit is tracing the leak, because water travels before it drops and the ceiling stain is a poor guide to where it got in.

Gutters, Box Gutters and Downpipes

Guttering is often the oldest working part of a house, and it fails from behind where nothing is visible. Rust shows at the joins first and then wherever the fall has flattened and water stands. We replace the gutter together with the fascia cover and brackets so the new work has something solid to hold onto, and the downpipes are sized against the roof area rather than the previous pipe. Box gutters and rainheads are part of the same work, cleaning gutters is not.

Metal Cladding

Gable ends and upper walls cost the most to maintain because reaching them means scaffold every time, and cladding them in steel ends that cycle. The material also relates naturally to the roof above rather than competing with it. On additions the same sheets do a different job, giving the new work its own finish instead of a near match to the original walls. We install Colorbond, zinc, copper and aluminium, and the battens and drainage behind the sheets are detailed as carefully as a roof.

Commercial Roofing

Shops, workshops and community buildings need the roof dealt with while they stay open, so the staging is where most of the planning goes. We replace sheeting in sections, close the roof each evening, and set the program around the hours the building is occupied. Older commercial roofs are often cement sheet, which comes off under our own asbestos licence before the new steel goes on. The scope, the staging and the price go in writing to whoever is responsible for the building.
