Metal Roofing in Millgrove

We are a metal roofing company based in Rowville, and Millgrove is one of the Shire of Yarra Ranges localities we travel out to. The team brings more than 30 years of combined roofing experience.

The work covers repairs on roofs that still have life in them, and replacement in Colorbond where they do not. Tile to metal conversions, new roofing on extensions and sheds, and all of the guttering and downpipes come under the same quote.

Panels, flues and anything else mounted on the roof are handled as part of a replacement rather than left to you to arrange. Contact us to book a comprehensive roof assessment.

Why Choose Us

Why Millgrove Owners Call Us

Metal roofing and roof plumbing is the whole business and always has been, with more than 30 years of combined experience across the team. It is the reason a roof gets detailed properly rather than finished in a hurry.

We work on houses, sheds, units and commercial buildings, and the commercial and industrial side takes us Victoria wide. A job out this way is part of the normal run rather than a special trip.

We are licensed and insured, we are members of Master Plumbers, and asbestos roof sheeting is removed and disposed of under our own licence. On Google the rating is 5.0 from 25 reviews.

Common Questions

Roofing in Millgrove

  • Yes. Millgrove is in the Shire of Yarra Ranges and we travel to it from Rowville. Send us the address and we will book in an assessment.

  • The panels are taken off before the sheeting comes up and refitted once the new roof is down, and the mounting penetrations are flashed into the new sheets rather than reused. We coordinate that as part of the job so you are not booking two contractors around each other.

  • Sometimes. If the corrosion is confined to certain sheets or to the laps at one end and the rest of the roof is sound, replacing that area is reasonable. Once the fixings have gone and the rust is general, a patch will not hold and we will say so.

  • Yes. New roofing on extensions, second storeys and outbuildings is part of what we do, and we will work to the same profile and the nearest colour if you want the new section to read with the old one.

  • No, cleaning is not a service we run. We install, replace and repair gutters, box gutters, downpipes and rainheads, so if a gutter is overflowing because of its fall or its capacity we can fix the cause.

  • Every suburb in the shire, with Warburton, Yarra Junction, Launching Place and Woori Yallock among the closest, plus the surrounding councils.

Roof Replacement and Re-Roofing

A roof with solar on it is a sequencing problem as much as a roofing one. The array comes off first, the sheets follow, and when the new roof is down the panels go back with their penetrations flashed into the new sheeting rather than through the old holes. We manage that order ourselves so there is no gap where the roof is open and nobody is available. Underneath it all, the usual reason for the replacement is that the fixings and the laps have gone, and those cannot be repaired back into a new roof.

Tile to Metal Conversions

Solar complicates a tile conversion more than most jobs, because the array has to come off, the tiles and battens have to go, and the panels then have to be refitted to a completely different roof. It is normal work for us and it is planned rather than improvised. The structural side still leads, since several tonnes of weight is leaving the frame and that can need engineering input and a permit. New guttering goes on with the new roof.

Roof Repairs

Fixings are the most overlooked part of a metal roof. Each screw relies on a rubber washer to seal where it passes through the sheet, and those perish in a fraction of the life of the steel around them. A roof full of tired fixings will leak in driving rain while looking perfectly sound on a dry day. That is a repair worth doing, and it is a different job from chasing an obvious hole.

Gutters, Box Gutters and Downpipes

Most gutter problems are either a fall problem or a capacity problem. A gutter that holds water somewhere along its length will rust at that point, and a gutter that cannot clear the volume arriving will spill over the back into the eaves. Both are fixed by setting the gutter out properly and sizing the downpipes to the roof area, not by sealing the leak. We replace gutters, downpipes, rainheads and box gutters, though cleaning them is not our work.

Metal Cladding

Metal cladding is a roof material used vertically, and it brings the same durability and the same low maintenance to a wall. That makes it useful on upper levels and additions, and on any wall where repainting has become a recurring job. Matching the cladding profile and colour to the roof pulls a house together, and running a deliberate contrast is just as valid a choice. Colorbond, zinc, copper and aluminium are all installed.

Commercial Roofing

Commercial and industrial roofs make up a large share of our work, from workshops and sheds through to warehouses and retail buildings. The roofing is usually simpler than the logistics, so the staging, the access and the delivery sequence get quoted with as much care as the sheeting. The building stays operating and the roof is closed at the end of each day. We deal with the owner or the facilities manager directly rather than through a chain of contractors.
